Measured Building Surveys

Precise floor plans, elevations, and sections for design and construction projects.

Overview

What you get, and why it matters.

Measured building surveys record the geometry of existing structures — inside and out. Whether you're planning an extension, converting a barn, or producing record drawings, we deliver clean, architect-ready CAD.

A measured building survey is a detailed scaled drawing of an existing building — floor plans, elevations, sections, and where needed, reflected ceiling plans. The output is the accurate base from which an architect designs an extension, refurbishment, barn conversion or listed-building alteration.

Across Cumbria, buildings are rarely regular. Thick stone walls, uneven floors, low eaves and listed-building constraints all matter. Every survey is measured carefully on site with a total station, disto, and — where access or heritage warrants it — 3D laser scanning, so nothing is guessed.

Drawings come to your preferred CAD layer standard, scaled, titled and plotted clearly, so your design team can start work straight away.

FAQs

Measured Building Surveys — common questions

  • Do you survey listed buildings and barn conversions?
Yes — listed buildings and traditional Cumbrian barns are a regular part of the work. Careful measurement is particularly important for these, as the geometry rarely matches what’s on the deed plan.
  • What scale and detail do you survey to?
Most measured building surveys are produced at 1:50 scale with accuracy to ±5mm on internal detail. Larger elevations can be at 1:100. Detail and tolerance are agreed up-front so there are no surprises.
  • Can you provide 3D models and point clouds?
Yes. For complex projects we can deliver Revit models (LOD 200–300) and registered point cloud data alongside the 2D drawings.
